Kenaf or Hibiscus cannabinus is an annual herbaceous crop that grows well in temperate regions with high rainfall and abundant solar radiation. This Malvaceae member famously known for its high-quality fibre directly retrieved from dried stem materials useful various industries, mainly paper pulp, bio-composite, textiles manufacturing. With recent discoveries, kenaf can now be regarded as a multipurpose usage has been extended beyond traditional applications, which include applications within the medicinal, pharmaceutical food industries since extracts possess several bioactivities anticancer, antimicrobial, antihypertensive, antidiabetic antithrombotic abilities along many more. The plant’s versatile activities come different plant parts such leaves, seeds, flowers stems. demonstrates also safely zero-waste crop, crucial sustainable development of any kenaf-based medicinal therapeutic compounds. However, biological properties are still not by focus on direct application material. If this trend continues, true potential could halted undermined.
